A production soundtrack may make reference to 2 things. One is the music utilized in the motion picture, which can include scores ; the other refers back to the music sold that includes some music in the film and music made for the flick. Both sorts of soundtracks are popular among music and movie fans alike.

History

The 1st flick soundtrack released for sales was for the 1946 film “Until the Clouds Roll By.”

Importance

Picture soundtracks are the only real way for fans of original film scores to have a recording of the music.

Features

Original score soundtracks will include each score in the movie while motion picture soundtracks typically include music galvanized by the film and not really music in the movie.

Potential

Original score soundtracks go out of print just after the film is released. Due to this, many scores become collector’s items.

Fun Fact

“The Bodyguard” soundtrack is the most important selling film soundtrack in history, selling over 37 million copies.

Whitney Houston’s limp movie debut about a pop diva under threat from a stalker, was obviously conceived as a press exercise to push her singing career. Kevin Costner stars as the bodyguard of the title but takes 2nd place through as Houston yells her way thru one over produced number after another. The soundtrack album is a slickly produced collection of tracks used in the movie, including the smash ‘I Will Always Love You’ and ‘I Have Nothing ‘. Excellent for Whitney fans to whom this record is geared, not so good if you’ve got an interest in Alan Silvestri’s score, given a fleeting 2:43 seconds worth of space on an album running to over fifty mins.

Tracks by Lisa Stansfield and Kenny G. underlie the album’s uninspired direction. A terrible cover by Curtis Stigers of Elvis Costello’s ‘Peace, Love and Understanding’ needs a lot of all 3 from the listener to oppose a fast trip to the rubbish can.

Mamma Mia!

Set on a colourful Greek island, the plot functions as a background for a treasure house of ABBA songs. A young lady on the point of being married finds that any one of 3 men may be her pa. She invites all 3 to the marriage without enlightening her mum, Donna, who was once the lead vocalist of Donna and the Dynamos. Meanwhile, Donna has invited her backup vocalists, Rosie and Tanya.

Grease

A musical about teenagers in love in the 50′s! It’s California, 1959 and greaser Danny Zuko and Australian Sandy Olsson are head over heels in love. They spend some time at the beach, but when they return to college, what either of them do not know is they both now attend Rydell High. Danny’s the leader of the T-Birds, a grouping of black-jacket greasers while Sandy hangs with the Pink Women, a bunch of pink-wearing girls controlled by Rizzo. When they clash at Rydell’s first pep rally, Danny isn’t the same Danny at the beach. They try and be like one another so they can be together.

The Sound of Music

In 1930′s Austria, a young girl named Maria is failing in her efforts to become a nun. When the Navy captain Georg Von Trapp writes to the priory asking for a governess that can deal with his seven cheeky kids, Maria is given the job. The Captain’s other half is dead, and he’s frequently away, and runs the household as exactly as he does the ships he sails on. The kids are sad and resentful of the governesses that their pa keeps hiring, and have been able to run each one of them off one at a time. When Maria arrives, she’s first met with the same hostility, but her kindness, understanding, and sense of fun shortly draws them to her and brings some much needed joy into forever — including the Captain’s. At last he and Maria find themselves falling completely in love, although Georg is engaged to a Baroness and Maria is still a postulant. The love makes them both start interrogating the choices they have made.

Mary Poppins – there is a new augmented 40th anniversary special edition of this soundtrack now available that includes many new Richard and Robert Sherman expanded or formerly unreleased pieces. But happily it does not include Dick Lorry Dyke’s deplorable Cockney accent.

Cabaret – From Joel Gray’s opening Wilkommen to the closing notes of Culmination, you will question why Cabaret was the last successful Hollywood musical till 2001 when Moulin Rouge hit the theatres. But oh dear! What has happened to Liza Minnelli?

Chicago – though John C. Reilley’s rendition of Mister Cellophane is the throw-away song for the general public, it’s our reason for purchasing this soundtrack! That and the dusky dulcet tones of Queen Latifah!

The Sound of Music – A great Rodgers and Hammerstein compilation from a bad Robert Sensible motion picture. Hearing Julie Andrews hit the high notes is worth the price of this 2-disc CD set.

Blade Runner – One of the most romantic soundtracks out there. While almost all of the Vangelis pieces remain from the first film score, many fresh ones were added for the 1994 re-release.

The Jungle Book – it does not get far better than Louis Prima, Phil Harris, and Richard M. Sherman. Particularly scintillating is watching the music “making of” featurette included on the DVD. That Prima is one swinging ‘ kitty.

Best of Both Worlds

The ‘Hannah Montana ‘ show’s official theme song is the sole song to explicitly describe the double life of Cyrus ‘ personality, who is a regular girl by day and a rock super sensation at night, hiding her true identity like a mega hero.

I Got Nerve

This ‘Hannah Montana ‘ song has been featured a couple of times on the program, and Cyrus in addition has performed it on ‘Live with Regis and Kelly. ‘ In 2009 the tune was covered by the electronica band Howdy , Astronaut.

Life’s What You make it

A promo video for this song features Hannah and her pals having a good time at Disney World’s Wizardry Dominion along with clips from Cyrus ‘ 2007 concert, also at Disney World.

If we were a Movie

Hannah Montana performs this song as a duet with ‘High College Musical”s Corbin Bleau for the Season two culmination of the show.

Ice Cream Freeze

The chorus of this ‘Hannah Montana ‘ song has its own choreographed dance. Cyrus frequently performs it in concert.

Nobody’s perfect

In the ‘Hannah Montana ‘ episode ‘Get Down Study-udy-udy, ‘ Hannah has difficulty studying for a biology examination and redos the track so she will be able to remember the bones of the body and calls it ‘Bone Dance.

Let’s Get Crazy

This song has 3 music videos. The 1st features Hannah forced into singing by her fans when she was meant to be going out for her chum Lilly’s birthday. The other 2 are both Disney promotional videos, one being a recording session and the other a live performance.

I Wanna Know

After David Archuleta made a guest appearance on the programme, he and Cyrus recorded the tune as a duet. Two versions of the track are available on the Season three Soundtrack, one with Archuleta and one without.

Rockstar

The 1st time this ‘Hannah Montana ‘ song is heard on the programme, Hannah performs it in an Italian cafe along side Joey Fatone. In another episode, Hannah is driving to her friend’s house and singing this song when she gets pulled over by a law officer for not employing a turn signal.

He could be the One

This song is Hannah’s first Top ten debut on the Poster advertisement hot hundred chart. The tune even beat Mariah Carey’s song ‘Obsessed. ‘ it is not any wonder the track also tops our list!
